Nepal Medical Council Election Results Announced

The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has officially announced the results of its recent election, with a total of 11,919 votes cast.

In the Vice President race, Dr. Kunjang Sherpa secured victory, with 5,234 votes. He was followed by Dr. Guru Sharan Sah, who received 4,350 votes, while Dr. Ajay Singh Thapa obtained 1,844 votes.

Meanwhile, the results for the Member positions were also declared. Dr. Chhabi Lal Panthi topped the list with the highest number of votes, receiving 4,857 votes. He was followed by Dr. Sarika Goit, who secured 4,479 votes, and Dr. Dipendra Pandey with 4,015 votes.

Other elected members include Dr. Yoveen Kumar Yadav, who received 3,628 votes, Dr. Asmita Pokhrel with 3,404 votes, Dr. Samrat Parajuli with 3,282 votes, and Dr. Neena Rai, who acquired 3,111 votes.

One of the closest contests was seen in the member category, where Dr. Rabin Basnet won by a narrow margin of just 38 votes. Dr. Basnet secured 3,072 votes, edging past his closest competitor Dr. Kumbh Raj Joshi, who received 3,034 votes.

The election results reflect active participation from medical professionals across the country and mark an important step in shaping the future leadership of the Nepal Medical Council.
